Finding a sustainable, renewable, and clean energy supply is a key scientific and technological challenge for humanity today due to issues caused by the use of fossil fuels. Therefore, the development of electrocatalysts suitable for energy generation and storage based on earth-abundant elements is essential. Herein, the trimetallic NiCoMn@PANI composite is deposited on carbon cloth via successive electrodeposition at room temperature. Grown NiCoMn exhibits hierarchical nanostructure morphology over the PANI network. NiCoMn@PANI composite demonstrated superior performance as a supercapacitor and water-splitting electrocatalyst in comparison to NiCoMn directly grown on carbon cloth and their bimetallic counterparts. The enhanced performance of the NiCoMn@PANI composite can be attributed to the growth template provided by the PANI network with strong interconnection for tuning electronic properties. As a proof of concept, a solid-state asymmetrical supercapacitor with a 1.5 V potential window is fabricated for external applications.
