Dr. Jiří Kotek elected as a member of the Academy Council
On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, Dr. Jiří Kotek, Director of the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of the CAS, was elected by the Academy Assembly as a member of the Academy Council for the term 2025–2029.
Dr. Ing. Jiří Kotek, dr. h. c., has been working at the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of the CAS for more than thirty years, nine of which as the director of the institute. He is an internationally recognized expert in polymer chemistry, whose research has significantly contributed to understanding the relationships between the structure and mechanical properties of polymeric materials. He has led numerous major research projects, and his work is widely cited in prestigious scientific journals. His contributions to polymer science have been acknowledged through his election as Chair of the European Polymer Federation for the 2020–2022 term and the awarding of an honorary doctorate by the prestigious Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA) in Lyon, France.
With his expertise and experience in research funding, the Academy Council of the Czech Academy of Sciences can rely on his deep understanding of strategic research development.
