Topic Preparation and characterization of polymers brushes bearing fluorescent probes
Supervisor Jan Svoboda, PhD
Department Chemistry and Physics of Surfaces and Biointerfaces
Description Polymer brushes are exceptional structures which have attracted interest for the development of sensing platforms. Non-fouling polymer brushes will be synthesize and enhance with fluorophores in various configurations, bound to: support, end of polymer chain and along a copolymer chain. The distances between the fluorophores, and thus chains will be probed by Förster resonance energy transfer. Charged polymer brushes will serve as chemical sensors, to follow changes the surrounding media. Finally, fluorescence system integrating non-fouling and charged polymer chains for tracing minute chemical changes.
