How to reach the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry

From the Komenský Hall of Residence, go downhill to the tram stop "Hládkov" and take the tram No 8 (in the direction LEHOVEC). Get off at the next stop ("Vozovna Střešovice") and change for tram No 1, 2, or 18 (in the opposite direction, PETŘINY) as far as the terminus PETŘINY.

From the Academy Residence, take tram No 25 (in the direction VOZOVNA KOBYLISY), get off at "Hradčanská" (2 stops), and change for tram No 1 or 18 (in the opposite direction, PETŘINY) as far as the terminus PETŘINY.

How to reach the Academy Residence

From the Institute, take tram No 2, get off at "Vítězné náměstí" (9 stops), change for tram No 25 (direction to PODBABA), get off at the next stop ("Lotyšská"), take the first turning to the right, and go forward to the Na Marně Street.

From the city centre, take the Metro green line A to "Dejvická" station. From there, take tram No 20 or No 25 (in the direction PODBABA), get off at "Lotyšská", and proceed as above.

Special buses will bring the participants only from the Academy Residence to the Institute every morning. The departure times are given on the notice board at the Registration Desk.

Welcome reception

Sunday, 11 July, 19:00-21:00. All registered participants are cordially invited to take part in a complimentary get-together party with cold dishes in the Komenský Hall of Residence.

Excursion with informal dinner

Wednesday, July 14, 14:00-23:00. Short stop at Veltrusy where there is a château surrounded by a romantic park. Visit to the Renaissance castle Nelahozeves with the famous Lobkowitz collection of art. Nearby is the birthplace of Antonín Dvořák, the famous Czech composer. The informal dinner will be served in the castle restaurant after sightseeing.

The bus departs from the Institute at 14:00 and returns to the Academy Residence and the Komenský Hall of Residence. Admission by tickets ("EXCURSION&QUOT) only.

Price: CHF 90.

Farewell toast

Thursday, 15 July: After the last lecture, all participants are invited to a farewell drink in the entrance hall of the Institute.


ACCOMPANYING PERSONS PROGRAMME

Admission only to the registered persons (including children) who paid the fee. The fee includes four lunches three of which (on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday) are served in the refectory of the halls of residence "Větrník" from 12:30 to 13:30 (see p. 10). Please, present your tickets when entering the bus ("ACCOMPANYING PERSONS´ PROGRAMME") or the refectory (AP L1 - AP L4).

Monday, 12 July

14:00-17:00 - Introductory sightseeing in Prague.

The bus departs from the Institute and returns to the Academy Residence and the Komenský Hall of Residence.

Tuesday, 13 July

09:00-17:00 - Full-day excursion to the region of famous Czech garnets located about 96 km (60 miles) north of Prague. It includes a visit to the castle Hrubý Rohozec, a visit to the museum in Turnov with a collection of precious stones, gems, and jewels, shopping opportunities, and lunch in a local restaurant. It is also possible to visit the Rocky Town near Sedmihorky.

The bus departs from the Institute and returns to the Academy Residence and the Komenský Hall of Residence.

Wednesday, 14 July

09:00-12:30 - Guided visit to the Prague Castle (Hradčany).

The bus departs from the Institute. After a walk through the Castle area and to "Malostranské náměstí" (Lesser-Town Square), the bus returns to the halls of residence "Větrník".

Thursday, 15 July

09:00-12:30 - Guided tour including a walk over the Gothic Charles Bridge (Karlův most), often called "the gallery of statues in the open air", and through the Old Town of Prague.

The bus departs from the Institute, and returns to the halls of residence "Větrník".


TECHNICAL PROGRAMME

SESSIONS

All sessions will be held in the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Praha 6 - Petřiny, Heyrovského náměstí 2.

LANGUAGE

English is the working language of the Conference. No translation will be provided.

PRESENTATION OF CONTRIBUTIONS

Main lectures

The presentation time for each lecture is 40 minutes, additional 10 minutes is reserved for discussion.

Special lectures

The presentation time for each lecture is 20 minutes, additional 5 minutes is reserved for discussion.

Poster communications

Poster sessions will take place on Tuesday and Thursday, always in the morning. Posters should be mounted the day preceding the corresponding session to make them freely accessible to the participants. The posters should be removed immediately after the session.

PRESENTATION FACILITIES

Projection of 5x5 cm slides, overhead projection, and blackboard are available for lectures and discussions. The slide projector does not function with slides thicker than 2.5 mm.
The speakers are requested to bring their slides to the operator during the break before the session.

PUBLICATION OF LECTURES

Both main lectures and special lectures will be published in a special volume of Macromolecular Symposia.
